Bring Me The Horizon: From Love to Hate

With a lineup consisting of Confide, The Ghost Inside, and of course, Bring Me The Horizon, one could only expect the craziest of shows. And crazy it was.
From the moment you stepped into the venue, the Blender Theater at Gramercy, you could feel the energy buzzing in the air as fans packed in close and played with condom balloons. Confide first opened, and got the crowd started; things went especially wild in the mosh pit when they played “Too many grasshoppers to maintain the harvest.”
With their departure came The Ghost Inside. Jonathan Vigil, the vocalist, did not wait long to literally dive in as he stage-dived into a particularly excited corner of the venue, to which he later dedicated a song. Vigil was not afraid to make contact with the crowd, and their performance was filled with stage dives and high fives. Finally, however, their performance ended, and with a quick goodbye and a statement of regret about Misery Signal’s inability to perform (as the vocalist came down with bronchitis), people began the anticipating wait for Bring Me The Horizon. Somehow, the crowd packed in even tighter than before, and lyrics were being shouted in the dark. Even the appearance of Tom Sykes, Oliver Sykes’ brother and roadie, caused a miniature frenzy as fans waved and proclaimed their love to him. Momentary blackouts in the lighting system kept causing the crowd to roar in false alarm and expectation.
Finally, however, the long awaited moment came. Bring Me The Horizon took the stage and instantly took the crowd over with “Diamonds Aren’t Forever.” They then caused even more of a frenzy with a favorite off of their old album, “Pray For Plagues.” This coupled with Oli’s demand for a circle pit caused what could be described as insanity. Their last song, however, was the wildest of all. Oli leaned in towards the crowd, and demanded that every last person in the crowd get up and crowd surf to give him a high five. All of a sudden, Blender security was dealing with four to five crowd surfers at a time as those in the front tried to avoid getting kicked. And the wild energy lasted right through to the end. In fact, the crowd had so much energy, that the yells of “One more song!!” brought Bring Me The Horizon back to play “Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick” as the moshers danced their hearts out one last time.
All in all, all three bands put on a show that fans will not forget soon.
